Today I thought about what I wanted to post – I was going back and forth between this and a Slayin’ or Playin‘ – and I decided I would give you all a glimpse into my everyday makeup drawer. Do stay tuned for another SoP at some point this week.. I’m currently deciding between 2 brands right now 🙂
So this is my Everyday Makeup Drawer! It’s actually a basket that I keep in my make-shift vanity, but this is the stuff that I use on a daily basis when going to school, work, or when I have to run out the door in a hurry. It changes from time to time, so I’ll definitely update it as time goes on.
Let’s dive into what I have been using for the month of September!
I normally keep a couple primers in my everyday bin, depending on the foundation I want to wear that day and how my skin is doing. I like the Baby Skin as an “everyday” one-size-fits all type of deal – I don’t really find that its blurring properties are that great…some people say it’s a dupe for the benefit Porefessional, I have yet to believe that. My Magic Lumi is for the days I want glowing, hydrated looking skin. Rimmel’s Stay Matte is great for the oilier days and I do like to use this under super luminous foundations.
My current kick these days has been interchanging my Infallible Pro Matte and Glow (I did a Foundation Friday on this just recently!). Depending on my mood, I’ll go for one or the other. One the days when it’s super hot or I am just not digging putting tons of liquids on my face, I go back to my OG bareMinerals makeup – Matte in this case. I do love Original as well – but I must say I forgot how amazing mineral makeup was! I’m slowly getting back into it. I do find that if I use it too much back to back I get micro-pimples, so I have to take breaks using this foundation.
These 2 have been my go-to setting powder lately, for the face. I love pressed powders to set my foundations, and depending on what finish I want, I’ll go for either of these. The BH Pro Powder is literally such an amazing dupe of MAC Studio Fix powder – except I love my BH powder better because it mattifies so amazingly. When I want a subtle, but ethereal glow, I’ll use my MAC Studio Sculpt in Medium/Deep.
So I just finished my Superstay Better Skin concealer which I really really loved! I’ve got a couple other concealers to go through, but I will repurchase that in the future. My NYX HD concealer is a favourite and this is a repurchase. It’s such an amazing consistency and it actually reminds me a lot of NARS Radiant Creamy concealer, but less drying. My holy grail undereye setting powder is my Laura Mercier translucent setting powder. Nothing really comes close to this – it’s non-cakey, non-creasing and makes it so easy to bake. My concealer doesn’t budge at all.
This has been so staple in my routine. I love contouring first with the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze n Glow in Dark, and after I do that I like to apply my Wet n’ Wild colouricon blush in Mellow Wine. Depending on how I feel I’ll warm up the face with my Too Faced Sweet Tea bronzer, and highlight the top of my cheek bones with my Makeup Revolution Shimmer Brick in Radiant.
My eyebrows have been pretty standard lately – I like to fill them in with my Brow Stylist Definer, and depending on how bold I want to go, I’ll stick em in place with a clear or tinted brow gel.
So I didn’t plan most of these products to be essence.. but what can I say? Essence makes pretty bomb eye products. I have been living and dying for their eyeliner since 2012 which is when they came to my end of Canada. I personaly love the STAYS no matter what, but the blue lid eyeliner is also great. Their gel-liner is new to their line and I have been using it to spruce up my waterline on days that I’m looking tired. Sometimes I like to add a little somethin’ to my lid, so their 2-in-1 eyeshadow stick is so convenient and adding a pop of highlight to the inner corner with the essence big bright eyes stick works wonders. I just ran out of my L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black – i friggin love that stuff! I had my Lash Sensational Luscious open as well so I’m going to go through it. It’s good – plumps up my lashes really wonderful; the only downside is that is flakes quite a bit later on during wear, and is a pain to wash off.
I did a Beauty Basics on Setting sprays, so please check it out for an in depth review on my fav setting sprays. I currently am working through this guy, and I really love this setting spray. It’s not mattifying, but saturates the face in a nice mist and keeps everything in place.
I am not a huge lip person (at least on the everyday), but man I re-discovered this little BUXOM lip sample that I got in a Sephora package and I really love it. It’s in the shade Sinful Cinnamon from their Big and Sexy line. This is probably the closest to my lip colour, but it just makes my lips so much more beautiful. It’s very comfortable on the lips and not too drying.
I hope this was an interesting read for y’all! Let me know in the comments what’s in your everyday makeup drawer?
Until next time,
